When the Tivoli Shopping Mall was built on the rural outskirts of Zurich 50 years ago, it was like a UFO landing on a virgin planet.
50 years later we asked the questions: what concept, shape and format should a shopping center have in order to fit the future?
The task was to develop scenarios that would hold up against the multi faceted requirements of the diverse stakeholders – client, users and neighbours. Every one of them was explored based on the architectural footprint, user journeys and data analysis and then challenged in stakeholder interviews.
The 3 resulting scenarios served as a starting point for discussions about the direction the Shoppi Tivoli shall take and gave an opportunity to challenge the different outcomes from various perspectives.
